PharmaCare Audit monitors, audits, and investigates claims submitted by pharmacies for medications and services paid for by PharmaCare. Service Verification Audits allow PharmaCare Audit to request confirmation from patients that they have received the medications or services that have been paid for by PharmaCare on their behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each year, up to 15,000 survey letters are sent to patients to confirm that they received medications or services paid for in whole or in part by PharmaCare on their behalf.

There are three types of letters that the PharmaCare Audit Confirmation Letters Program produces:

Prescription Confirmation Letters

The Prescription Confirmation Letters verify that patients with medications paid for by PharmaCare have received these medications.

A selection of 10 pharmacies are chosen each month and letters are sent to approximately 100 of their patients.

Prosthetic and Orthotic (P&O) Confirmation Letters

The P&O Confirmation Letters verify that patients received the medical device benefit (e.g. device, repairs and adjustments, or supplies) associated with the prosthetic and orthotic claims paid for by PharmaCare on their behalf.

Medication Review Confirmation Letters

The Medication Review Confirmation Letters verify that patients received the medication review service that the pharmacy has billed on their behalf.

Patients are selected by a computerized process that ensures random selection.

The respondent identified in the survey or their qualified guardian/care-giver may answer.

If you received a different amount for your prescription than listed in the survey, or the date differs from your records – you may skip the question and use the 'Additional Details' at the bottom of the form to fill in any details that may be relevant – such as "I was prescribed initially 15mg of this but then it was lowered to 10 mg after the survey date in question"; or "I was prescribed this on the 23rd but not the 22nd".

You may dispose of the letter in a secure manner, such as shredding. Please do not mail us your survey letter if you respond online.
